Servicing that keeps you compliant and protected
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the responsible person for a building has to keep its fire safety systems maintained. For fire alarms, BS 5839-1 recommends servicing by a competent person at intervals of no more than six months, and emergency lighting needs an annual full-duration test under BS 5266-1.
Security systems need the same care. Cameras drift, lenses get dirty and recorders fill up or fail, and intruder alarm batteries and detectors wear out. Insurers will often expect an intruder alarm to be maintained under contract.
On every visit we test and inspect each system, replace worn batteries and parts, and record everything with a certificate or report. If we find a fault we'll explain it and quote to put it right, and our 24/7 line is there if anything goes wrong between visits.

Common questions
How often does a fire alarm need servicing?
BS 5839-1 recommends that a fire alarm system is serviced by a competent person at intervals of no more than six months. Some buildings benefit from more frequent visits. We'll recommend a schedule that suits yours.
How often should CCTV and intruder alarms be serviced?
We recommend servicing CCTV and intruder alarms at least once a year. Your insurer may set its own requirements for the intruder alarm, so it's worth checking your policy.
How often should emergency lighting be tested?
BS 5266-1 calls for a short functional test each month and a full-duration test once a year. We carry out the annual test and certification, and can show you how to do the monthly checks.
Can you service systems someone else installed?
Yes. We service fire and security systems from a wide range of manufacturers and installers. We'll inspect everything on the first visit and let you know about anything that needs attention.
Can I have all my systems on one maintenance contract?
Yes. We can service your fire alarm, emergency lighting, extinguishers, CCTV, intruder alarm and access control under one contract, across Blackburn, Lancashire, the North West and nationwide.
